Our Programs, Intensives and Clinics

We run a number of programs across Rockhampton and Yeppoon which include a combination of services. These programs are ran by a multidisciplinary team during school hours, outside of school and during school holidays.

School, Kindergarten and Daycare Programs

Our AllSorts teams work closely with a number of schools, kindergartens and daycare centres across each of the regions that we service. In these community settings, we provide services to children directly, group intervntion, screening programs and education and training for staff.

Sessions in community settings like these may be single discipline or multidisciplinary in nature depending on the child’s needs. We are not always able to provide sessions at external education providers for every child, but will consider this as an option for a child’s therapy if it is deemed to be the most appropriate in their circumstance.

Intensives and Group Programs

Therapists at Allsorts are flexible in offering programs of varying consistency to children within the service. For some children, this may be ‘intensive’ programs where they are seen for therapy sessions at a higher frequency for a short period of time to target a particular skill or area of development. We also offer group programs that are run by either therapists themselves or facilitated by our therapy assistants. Most intensives and group programs are run for children who already access the Allsorts service as this allows our clinicians to tailor these programs to suit the needs of each child specifically. We deliver a variety of group programs, the consistency of these is dependent on the needs of the children in our service at the time; if you are interested in finding our more about these services for your child, please speak with your child’s therapist.

Groups and Intensives

  • We run a variety of Social Groups programs both during term time and in the school holidays. Groups aim to focus on teaching and practicing new ways of interacting with others in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

  • This program is ran by our multidisciplinary team to focus on key skill development in individual areas. Our Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists work cohesively with children and their families to develop specific functional goals to work on.

  • Fun groups offered in school holidays for children who are at varying levels of learning to ride. Our physiotherapist, with support from the occupational therapists and speech pathologists, assist children and their families in building up confidence and independence in riding abilities.

  • These intensive blocks are offered as both group and individual sessions for both power and manual wheelchair users of all levels. The programs are designed to facilitate environmental exploration and independent mobility in a fun and supportive manner.

Specialist Feeding Clinics and Groups

Children with feeding difficulties are welcome at Allsorts Developmental Services. Our therapists can provide specialist feeding sessions on an individual basis or in our ‘food groups’ dependent on the child’s needs.

Clinics

  • We can assist with:

    • Babies with poor sucking coordination.

    • Babies who are coughing or choking when being fed.

    • Children who gag or vomit frequently on food.

    • Children/babies who refuse foods (e.g. foods with lumps).

    • Challenging bahaviours related to food.

    • Fussy and picky eaters.

    • Children/ adolescents with oral defensiveness or oral aversions.

    • Transitioning from tube feeding to oral feeding.

  • The Allsorts Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Mackay clinics all run food groups. Our food groups are based on a combination of ‘SOS Approach to Feeding’, ‘Mealtimes Matter’ and ‘SENSE-ational Mealtimes’ principles. In these groups we mirror a ‘family’ mealtime and sit together at the table to learn about new or less preferred foods together. The groups regularly run during the school term and sometimes over school holidays. Children are able to join the group if their therapists feels that they meet the criteria to be involved in this type of food learning.
